Leo Ballard

Board Member

Leo E. Ballard Jr. is a retired business leader, entrepreneur, and community advocate whose career spans from management, human resources, entrepreneurship to sports leadership. As a Board Member of the Greater Twin Cities African American Basketball Hall of Fame, he will continue to champion the growth and integrity of the game of basketball.

A lifelong leader both in business and athletics, Leo has owned and operated several successful ventures, including Coveralls Cleaning Service and New Vision Auto Dealership. His entrepreneurial success reflects his strong vision, commitment to excellence, and ability to build effective, people-centered organizations.

Earlier in his career, Leo held diverse leadership roles such as Mortgage Loan Officer with Team USA Mortgage, Supervisor at Berry Plastics and IMI Cornelius, and HR Recruiter at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. Across these positions, he developed deep expertise in team leadership, operations, and workforce development.

Beyond business, Leo is passionate about youth development and community engagement.  He coached women’s NCAA Division II basketball, founded and ran The Knights AAU Basketball Program.

Today he still mentors young athletes, promoting teamwork, discipline, and leadership through sports sharing his experience and insight advocating for both business and athletic success.

Leo is an alumnus of Highland Community College, Moorhead State University, and Concordia University – St. Paul, Minnesota, where he built the educational foundation for his multifaceted career.
