Nominations

Know a Legend? Tell Us About Them.

The names that belong in this Hall come from the community. If you know a player, coach, or referee from the Twin Cities whose contribution to the game deserves to be in the public record, this is where it starts.

How It Works

Three Steps From Nomination to Induction.

Anyone can submit a nomination. Our selection committee reviews every submission against the criteria below and chooses each year's class.

01 — Submit

Send Us a Name.

Fill out the nomination form with as much detail as you can: schools, accomplishments, awards, and why this person belongs in the Hall. The more context, the better.

02 — Review

The Committee Weighs In.

Our selection committee, AABHOF members, basketball historians, media, and community voices, reviews each nominee against the eligibility criteria.

03 — Induct

Hall of Famers Ceremony.

Selected inductees are announced and celebrated at the annual Hall of Famers event, joining the permanent record of Twin Cities African American basketball excellence.

The Criteria

Who Is Eligible, and Who Decides.

Eligibility ensures that inductees have made a lasting impact on the Twin Cities basketball community. Our selection committee brings the depth and breadth needed to weigh each nomination fairly.

Eligibility Criteria

Players, coaches, and referees from the Twin Cities and greater area who have made significant contributions and impact on the game of basketball.

Candidates must be from the Twin Cities and the greater area.

Candidates must have been active in the local scene, high school, college, or professional, and made an impact on the Twin Cities for some time.

Candidates must have been retired or inactive for at least five (5) calendar years preceding the election, but may still be otherwise connected to basketball.

In the case of the death of an active player, or one retired less than five years, a candidate is eligible in the next regular election held at least six (6) months after the date of death, or after the five-year period, whichever occurs first.

Selection Committee

The selection committee from AABHOF.

A media representative covering Twin Cities sports.

Professional basketball voices from the Twin Cities.

Basketball experts and historians from the Twin Cities.

Input from the community helps determine the list of nominees considered for possible induction.

Submit a Nomination

Tell Us About Your Nominee.

Take your time, the more specific your submission, the easier it is for the committee to evaluate.
