About Keith Joseph Davis

Keith Davis was an influential African American trailblazer who graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1974. He began his coaching career at the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center during junior high, positively impacting many youth in the North Side community. Keith instilled pride in the next generation of African American youth he mentored.

Dedicated to his coaching, he led youth teams to baseball, basketball, and flag football championships. His mentoring spanned three decades, including work at various community centers and outreach programs in North Minneapolis that helped students gain college admissions. Keith also authored publications to recognize outstanding young athletes in the Twin Cities.

He passed away on June 19, 2012, and his legacy lives on through the Greater Twin Cities African American Basketball Hall of Fame scholarships, inspiring the new African American generation to make meaningful, lasting differences.

We honor the past while inspiring a new generation to shape what lies ahead. We empower young people to take charge and create change.
